Lys Hansen is probably best known as a painter. However, she is also an accomplished printmaker. Hansen's work is expressive and colourful and explores the powerful issues of life, love and the human condition. This print by the Scottish artist Lys Hansen shows two figures embracing in a bright and fantastical world. The warm and intense colours of red, orange and pink convey the heat and the bodily touch. The figures are blended into one and they are framed inside a bold outline of bright blue, which contrasts with the red colours of the figures. The hand is disproportionate to the head, but it is all the better suited to hold the head with a firm grasp which seems both affectionate and slightly clumsy.
