Originally from Australia, Kelly Stewart is based in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh. Having studied at the University of Western Sydney, Stewart gained a Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Visual Communication, and majored in illustration. She then went on to spend a further year studying printmaking at Tafe West Ryde. In 2001 Stewart joined the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop, where she started experimenting with the medium of silkscreen as a way of combining quirky architectural sketches with mark making and hand written text. She has had many exhibitions throughout Edinburgh, including a double solo exhibition entitled, ‘The Paris Drawings’, held at the Institut de Français, Edinburgh, in 2005 and the Global Gallery in Sydney 2006. She continues to live and work in Edinburgh through producing limited edition prints and private commissions, including work for The Scotsman Magazine, Stewart Gill Ltd and BBC Scotland.
