Hannah Mooney's art takes the traditional genre of still life painting confidently into a contemporary setting. The method of paint, arrangement of earthly colours, and the impression of speed with which the painting has been created gives the painting a distinct contemporary feel.
Hannah currently works in two distinct areas; still life and the landscape. In both she is an instinctive, natural painter deeply concerned with the matière and traditional composition. Although based in Scotland, her Irish heritage is ultimately the driving force behind her paintings and she returns there frequently for inspiration. In addition to the AIH collection, her work has also been acquired for the James Nichol McBroom Archive and the Hottinger Group. Hannah Mooney works with the Mall Galleries, Panter and Hall in London and the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh. She will be the subject of a solo exhibition at The Scottish Gallery in October 2019.
Hannah Mooney is the winner of the Art in Healthcare purchase prize from the New Contemporaries Exhibition 2018 - The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.
