"The cat in the painting is my deceased pet. I had him for 18 years, and the whole time I knew him he had one goal in life which was food. He thought about it all the time, Everything he came across in life was either edible or uninteresting. Even now although he has passed through the big cat flap in the sky I can feel his influence on me, especially when I'm deciding whether to have dessert or not."

Michael Forbes was born in 1968 and now lives in Dingwall in the North of. Scotland. A successful artist by the age of 22, despite receiving no formal training, he has exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Britain and across the world. Over a hundred of his paintings are in private collections worldwide. His surrealist artwork has been described as full of invention and pawky humour and windows opening on to an inner landscape.
