The artist, Rebecca Radcliff, took inspiration for this drawing from Audrey Grant’s ‘Atlantic Wave’. One of a series of small-scale works in oil inspired by notations and sketches made at the Bay of Clachtoll ner Lochinver. Audrey was inspired by the energy, movement and ever-changing colours of the waves in the bay during some very stormy weather coming in from the Atlantic. She says “The main challenge in making this painting was to give the sense and scale of big wave energy on a small-scale surface”. Rebecca has taken on the same challenge and focused on the mood and movement of the scene.
