Born in 1943, Barbara Rae studied at the Edinburgh College of Art between 1961 and 1965, where she was awarded a travel scholarship to work in France and Spain. Barbara went on to lecture in Drawing, Painting and Printmaking at Aberdeen College of Education from 1972 to 1974 and lectured in drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art from 1975 to 1996.
In 1999 she was awarded a CBE and recently awarded an MBE in 2024. Barbara lives and works in Edinburgh.
Spanish Window, is a limited-edition lithograph, layering bold colour and mark making to capture landscapes and her surroundings, documenting her travels to the south of Spain.
