This drawing is the artist, D Rhodes’, interpretation of Barbara Hepworth’s Conversations with Magic Stones (a series of modernist sculptures). The concept of the drawing exercise was to capture the shapes but to change the placement and composition. D overlapped the shapes and lines, creating a freer approach. They used a graphite pencil to shade the negative space around the forms to define the shapes and the way they were interacting with each other.
