Gouache, conte pencil, linocut water based ink prints on tracing paper, and wood

Undertaking this one felt like art therapy and coming to terms with a violent incident almost 20 years ago which changed the trajectory of my life and left scars both physical and emotional.

I hadn’t worked on anything figurative for well over a decade but this felt freeing to let out those painful memories visually in gentle mediums of gouache, linocut prints and collage.

My recent environmental artwork practices are represented with natural dye plants like coreopsis flowers and blue toned prints of Japanese indigo leaves and traditional fabric patterns.

The red from blood in the past and madder plant roots used now to dye wool I knit with vibrant reds.
