My daughter recently went through a shock divorce which affected the whole family. The betrayal and immense pain suffered by both my daughter and myself was overwhelming. For many months we felt distraught. The anguish was written on her face. We were both going through a bereavement, in our own way. I produced a number of lino cuttings on this theme. I felt I could not protect my daughter from her suffering. When we are at a loss of how to protect our children from suffering, our pain is universal.
