The artist, Christine Aitchison, created these patterns just before learning to weave with Taking Art Home. She experimented with using chalk pastels, colour and techniques to produce different drawn weavings, before moving on to weaving with wool. When creating her final design, Christine reflected on it’s likeness to tartan and remembered a conversation she had with her partner about which tartans were their favourite (he is not Scottish). She says, ‘I included our favourite colours in the design to represent weaving ourselves into a tartan.’
