Volunteer Event Assistant

The Role 

We are looking for a Volunteer Event Assistant to work with the Art in Healthcare team between December 2021 and April 2022. We are looking for someone to help us deliver a reception and a multi-site exhibition. If you are interested in developing skills within events and/or the arts, this would provide a great first step. 

Specific Tasks will include: 

• Helping with the administration and co-ordination of the events 

• Helping with associated social media and print 
• Supporting event evaluation and follow up 

What will you get out of it? 

• You will work closely with the Art in Healthcare team and gain experience in the arts sector in Scotland 

• You will be provided with 1:1 support to ensure that you are able to maximise the experience and skills that you gain from the opportunity 
• You will meet new people and have the opportunity to develop professional contacts and networks 
• You will enhance your CV and gain written references  

What are we looking for in you? 

We don’t have any preconceived ideas about who this opportunity is for, beyond that we anticipate that the successful person will have a demonstrable enthusiasm for working in the arts in Scotland. You may be looking for some experience to help you land that first job or you may have had a break from work and be looking for a way back in, or a change of direction. We’d love to hear from you if you have the following qualities: 

• Enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go 
• An approachable and friendly manner 
• An interest in working in the arts  
• A commitment to volunteer with us for between 8 and 12 hours per week, between December 2021 and the end of March 2022 

• Be reliable and have good time keeping 

Where will this take place? 

We are open to discussion and will develop a model of working that suits you and us. We are a small team and most of us are combining working from home and time in the office at York Place in Edinburgh. The events will require evening attendance.
