A Passion for Art

Running until Saturday 28 May 2022 at MacRobert Arts Centre, University of Stirling, A Passion for ArtMatilda Hall, Collector and Curator is an exhibition curated by Art in Healthcare founder Matilda Hall. This beautiful show features seven works from our collection, such as Andy Goldworthy’s Sweet Chestnut Leaf Hole and Alan Davie’s Magic Casket

“Matilda Hall has been a collector and supporter of Scottish art for over fifty years. As P.A. to the University of Stirling’s first Principal Tom Cottrell, she helped to collect for the university and later was integral to the founding of charity Art in Healthcare. Matilda is also a collector in her own right and with her late husband Douglas Hall, who was the First Keeper of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh.” MacRobert Arts Centre.

Entry to Passion for Art is free.

New Faces

Art in Healthcare has two new team members.. Margaret McCormick is an experienced and respected Curator, working closely with the collection to curate bodies of work for display in hospitals and healthcare settings across Scotland. She’s supported by Rowan Dahl, as Collection Assistant. Rowan is a recent graduate working with maintaining the collection and supporting the curation of work, as well as writing this news update. We’re excited to be joining the team and are really looking forward to doing what we can to help improve the lives of people in healthcare.

Making Room for Art

The Room for Art programme uses a social prescribing model and offers visual art workshops led by professional artists with a focus on art making for health and wellbeing. This outreach programme supports over 100 people in communities across Edinburgh.

Room for Art are kicking off the Spring with Printmaking workshops, looking at lino printing, screen printing and monoprinting. We’ve supplied printmaking kits to all of our workshops – at Whale Arts in Wester Hailes, Meadowbank, the Salisbury Centre in Newington, West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre and Bellfield Community Hub in Portobello.

Room for Art offers space and art materials to our workshop participants to develop their own projects and explore a range of art techniques. Art in Healthcare hopes to organise a Printmaking exhibition later in the year to exhibit the artworks produced.
