Yesterday, we had a productive Strategic Meeting held at WHALE Arts focussed on the theme of Self-Management to celebrate Self Management Week 2025 (22-25 September).
Self Management is an approach to living with long term conditions. It provides information and support that can help people to learn new skills and feel more in control of their own health and wellbeing. Primarily, it allows people to make informed decisions and understand what feels right for them to manage their condition effectively.
The meeting started with a presentation by our Creative Communities Lead, Tarka, followed by a walk around our newly installed exhibition “Taking Creative Care” at WHALE arts agency which will run until the 9th of November 2025.
The exhibition showcases works from the Art in Healthcare collection, accompanied by activities. These activities are shared from an evolving set of resources co-designed with artists, therapists, and people living with long term conditions across Scotland. “Taking Creative Care” exists to explore arts-based Self Management, and share creative activities that nurture wellbeing, rest and resilience.
This exhibition is in recognition of Art in Healthcare’s 2024 Self Management Award from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland.
