We recently spoke to the wonderful artist Kate Temple who leads our Room For Art workshop at Bellfield to share her experience and practice.

What is it like being part of Room For Art?
It’s a joy being part of Room for Art. I’ve worked with my group for four years now (wow!) so I really feel part of the group, we’ve been through a lot together. It’s a real privilege being part of people’s journey with creativity and witnessing what that can bring, it’s very powerful.
Can you share a highlight or memorable moment/s?
So many, but I always love when the weather gets warm enough to drag the tables and chairs outside and work in the garden; it’s one of the best things about being at Bellfield. Also, our group really goes all out in celebrating birthdays! There have been some really good cakes over the years….!
Can you tell us about your creative practice?
At the moment I’m inspired by being in nature. I do a lot of foraging outside for materials to work with in my practice – I really love making a potion! I also love collaborating with other people – artists and non-artists – and exploring what multiple brains and hands can make together.
Has there been an impact on your creative practice as a result of your involvement in Room For Art or vice versa?
I take elements from my practice into the workshops – perhaps a material, a technique or an approach to share – it’s always so interesting to see where people take it – I take that energy back into my creative practice.
